Former American Le Mans Series team owner/driver David Robertson has passed away at the age of 66.

Robertson, and wife Andrea, competed in the ALMS from 2007-11, primarily with the team’s self-built Ford GT that also ran internationally in the 2009 Asian Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2011.

His career highlight came with a GTE-Am podium finish in the French endurance classic, alongside Andrea and long-time co-driver David Murry in their Robertson Racing entry.

As chronicled by Sportscar365, Robertson’s privately funded effort, run by Andrew “H” Smith, had been the last Ford entrant to finish on the podium at Le Mans prior to the arrival of the factory Ford GT program in 2016.

Robertson, a commercial pilot, retired from professional racing at the end of 2011 although remained active in historic racing with his and Andrea’s Ford GTs.

Sportscar365 sends its condolences to Robertson’s family at this difficult time.
