A pair of Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3s led the opening one-hour practice session for the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge BMW Performance 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

The team’s third car, the No. 47 M3 co-driven by Spencer Pumpelly and Steven Bertheau, led the overall and GS class timesheets. Pumpelly clocked in his fastest lap on his 16th of 18 completed laps at 1:56.604.

Fall-Line’s No. 46 M3, co-driven by John Edwards and Trent Hindman, was second at 1:56.819. The No. 7 Rebel Rock Racing Porsche 997 (Brett Sandberg/Al Carter) and No. 8 Mantella Autosport Aston Martin Vantage (Mark Wilkins/Anthony Mantella) each posted an identical time of 1:56.831 for third place.

In ST, the factory HART effort of Michael Valiante and Chad Gilsinger, in the No. 93 Honda Civic Si, led the timesheets at 2:05.701.

Valiante said this was the car’s first running since Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last fall; the team did not compete at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 test earlier this month.

Murillo Racing’s No. 56 BMW 328i (Eric Foss/Jeff Mosing) was second at 2:06.351, with another Honda Civic Si, the No. 75 Compass360 Racing entry driven by Ryan Eversley and Kyle Gimple third at 2:06.393.

One minor red flag interrupted the session. The second one-hour practice session will run today from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. ET.

RESULTS: Practice 1
