After a solid fourth-place result at Daytona in the opening round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge program in January with Deily Motorsports, Tyler Maxson has made the move to Van Der Steur Racing for the remainder of the season.

Piloting a Hyundai Elantra N TCR, Maxson will co-drive with Bryan Ortiz as the duo will look to fight for TCR class wins and podiums starting next week at Sebring International Raceway.

“I am happy to have the rest of the season confirmed,” said Maxson. “After speaking with Van der Steur Racing, the choice was simple, and we are now set for the rest of 2023. I’m excited to be aligned with this team and look forward to working with them.”

“Van der Steur Racing is thrilled to have Tyler on board for the remainder of the season as we continue to grow our program,” explained Team Manager Chris Deely.

“We know with Tyler and Bryan we will have a championship-contending lineup, and can’t wait to compete at Sebring in a week.”

Currently, fourth in the Michelin Pilot Challenge point standings, Maxson will not only race with a new team this weekend but also a new co-driver in Ortiz.

“I’m really looking forward to driving with Bryan,” he said. “He’s a good friend, a heck of a driver and very accomplished in his own right. I think together we provide a powerful one-two punch that should be a threat for the title moving forward.”

In addition to its return to the TCR class, van der Steur will continue to campaign an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the GS class for Austin McCusker and Rory van der Steur.
