Tennessee-based Medusa Motorsports will enter IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competition this year, with a Ford Mustang GT4 confirmed for this month’s season-opening BMW M Endurance Challenge.
Sam Corry, Hunter Yeany and Athan Sterling will share driving duties of the Multimatic-built machine in the four-hour race at Daytona International Speedway.
The newly formed team plans to contest the entire Pilot Challenge season, although the makeup of the drivers beyond the season opener has not yet been announced.
“Medusa Motorsports was built to redefine the traditional ‘dog-eat-dog’ culture of racing,” said team owner Ivy Sterling.
“We’ve created an environment where integrity and mutual respect are just as important as our lap times.
“Bringing Sam, Hunter, and Athan together reflects that vision—they are not only exceptionally fast, but they share our commitment to a positive, collaborative model of success.
“We are ready to show Daytona what a values-driven team can achieve.”
Brandon Graham, the team’s director of competition, added: “To win at Daytona, you need drivers who can balance raw speed with the discipline required for a four-hour endurance race.
“In Sam, Hunter, and Athan, we have a trio that covers every base. Their combined experience across open-wheel and sports car disciplines gives us a significant edge.
“The Ford Mustang GT4 is a proven platform, and with this lineup, we expect to be fighting at the front of the GS field from the moment the green flag drops.”
All three drivers are new to IMSA-sanctioned competition.
Corry, the only driver of the trio with prior sports car racing experience, is a former Trans Am TA2 class runner, while Yeany became the youngest-ever winner in a FIA Formula 4 series, also with a season spent in USF Pro 2000.
Sterling, meanwhile, moves into sports car racing after a year in Formula Regional Americas.
