Team TGM will make the switch from Aston Martin to Ford Mustang GT4 machinery in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge next year.
Announced on Friday, the Ted Giovanis-owned squad, which most recently won the 2024 GS title with Matt Plumb, will campaign a pair of the Multimatic-built entries next year, retaining its tried-and-trusted driver lineups for both its Nos. 46 and 64 entries.
Giovanis and Hugh Plumb are set to continue their multi-title winning effort in the No. 64 car, with Plumb’s brother, veteran and two-time series champion Matt Plumb, teaming up with Paul Holton in the No. 46 entry.
The two four-hour contests at Daytona International Speedway and Mid-Ohio will see the addition of third, yet-to-be confirmed drivers.
“Reflecting back on TGM’s successes, we have had two GS driver championships, two GS team championships and two GS Bronze championships,” said Giovanis. “Looking at it that way, we have accomplished a lot.
“But now, we are turning the page and eagerly looking to work with a great manufacturer like Ford. They have tons of resources, dedication and the drive to win, as do we.
“We can’t wait for the season to begin so we can explore our new platform on track and continue those successes with Ford.”
Hugh Plumb added: “Bringing Ford Racing into the mix for 2026 is a big step forward for us. As much as I hate the
saying ‘if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em,’ I could not feel more confident to become a part of a team that has such a winning legacy.”
“There is plenty new for 2026, but the one thing that hasn’t changed is our goal of race wins and another championship,” added Matt Plumb.
“This partnership with Ford Racing and Multimatic Motorsports with the new Ford Mustang GT4 is an incredible step towards making this happen. I am really looking forward to getting behind the wheel to see what we can do with it.”
Holton said: “Partnering with a manufacturer that shares our passion and commitment to excellence gives me tremendous confidence in what’s ahead.
“I’m also very thankful to be continuing alongside Matt Plumb and the entire TGM team. This group has been like family, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in this next chapter.”
Since its debut in 2024, the latest-generation Mustang GT4 has achieved success in numerous regional GT4-spec series across four continents, including Pilot Challenge, most recently with McCumbee McAleer Racing, KohR Motorsports and Stephen Cameron Racing.
Sportscar365 understands that MMR is likely to make the switch to SRO’s Pirelli GT4 America next year.
“Since launching the all-new Mustang GT4 in 2024, we have proven that this is a winning platform on four continents,” said Ford Racing global sports car manager Alex Allmandinger.
“Success is driven by good partners — from Multimatic Motorsports and our Ford Racing engineers, to our customers. We are proud to welcome Team TGM, a proven championship caliber program, to the Ford family.”
