Tristan Herbert, Audi Sport customer racing’s North American manager, is set to co-drive with Jarett Andretti in IMSA Prototype Challenge this year.
Herbert, who is Bronze-rated by the FIA, will make his LMP3 debut alongside Andretti in the No. 18 Ligier JS P320 Nissan beginning with this weekend’s season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.
While more recently known for his duties with the German manufacturer, Herbert holds an extensive racing background, primarily in SCCA and SRO America competition, including making selected starts in TC America last year at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS TCR car.
“When the opportunity presented itself to step beyond the pit wall and back into a car with Jarett Andretti, I made the decision to do so without hesitation,” he said.
“I have known Jarett for a few years and it’s never surprised me with his racing pedigree and experience that he can jump into anything and immediately be quick out of the box. I’m looking forward to working with Jarett and such a professional organization in the New Year.”
The Andretti/Herbert entry is one of 19 LMP3 cars on the entry list for Saturday’s one-hour and 45-minute season-opener.
“We’re looking forward to being back in the IMSA paddock with the LMP3 program and would like to welcome Tristan to the team alongside Jarett,” said Andretti Autosport co-owner Michael Andretti.
“Daytona is fast approaching and we can’t wait to get the season going strong.”
