AO Racing has unveiled its full season livery for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with its Porsche 911 GT3 R transformed into the ‘GT3 Rawr’ depicting “Rexy” the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The inspiration came from team principal and driver PJ Hyett, in honor of his children. Hyett proudly sports a T-Rex for his son and a unicorn for his daughter on his helmet.
Hyett will share the GTD class contender with Seb Priaulx for the season and is joined by Gunnar Jeannette for the Michelin Endurance Cup races, including this weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
“I’m thrilled to be one of the guys that will drive the GT3-Rawr,” Jeannette said. “Hopefully, Rexy goes as fast as it looks and we can come home with a good result after our disappointing Daytona.
“We really want to give the fans something to cheer for as Rexy makes it’s mark both on & off track.”
The team paid tribute to the 1983 ‘Swap Shop’ Porsche 935 in January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, in what was a one-off livery.
Both Hyett and Jeannette are pulling double duty at Sebring, with the pairing also embarking on a full season of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the wheel of Project 1 – AO’s Porsche 911 RSR-19.
