BMW M Motorsport will celebrate 50 years of BMW North America this week at Sebring International Raceway, with a special livery honoring the launch of the Munich manufacturer’s U.S. division.
Revealed on social media ahead of Saturday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship enduro at the Florida airfield circuit, the design pays homage to BMW North America’s launch, which came on March 15, 1975. Saturday’s around-the-clock enduro will be 50 years to the day of the company’s formation.
The livery is based on a timeline of the milestones for the BMW North America in motorsports, including victories for the BMW 3.0 CSL and the V12 LMR at Sebring, as well as the American Le Mans Series championship titles for the M3 GTR and M3 GT.
The No. 25 BMW M Hybrid V8 will be driven by full season drivers Marco Wittmann and Sheldon van der Linde, who will be joined by Robin Frijns for the second leg of the Michelin Endurance Cup.
