Sebastien Bourdais will make the move to the LMP2 class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year, with the Cadillac factory driver confirmed for a season-long drive with Tower Motorsports.

The Frenchman will share driving duties of the team’s No. 08 Oreca 07 Gibson with Bronze-rated John Farano, with Sebastian Alvarez joining for the Michelin Endurance Cup races and Job van Uitert completing the lineup for January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Bourdais, who is expected to be announced in Hertz Team JOTA’s FIA World Endurance Championship lineup, is poised to undertake a dual-series campaign, while making his LMP2 debut in WeatherTech Championship competition.

The WeatherTech Championship LMP2 season has only a single clash with the WEC, between the LMP2 headline race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and six-hour WEC round in Interlagos in July.

“I am really happy to be joining Tower Motorsports,” said Bourdais. “It’s a proven team with a history of success, and I am thrilled to continue racing in America in such a high-level program.

“I’ve never had the pleasure of driving the LMP2 with higher downforce and Michelin tires, so it’s going to be an interesting experience.

“I’m really looking forward to racing this season with John, Sebastian, and Job. We’re going to have a ton of fun and achieve a great amount of success.”

Team owner/driver Farano added: “The driver lineup we’ve assembled combines the experience, skill, and determination needed to be competitive at every race.

“Racing alongside Sebastien, and having Sebastian and Job for the endurance events, will elevate the team’s performance to new heights.

“We’re aiming to fight at the front and claim the Jim Trueman Award once again.”

Alvarez and van Uitert are no strangers to the Ricky Capone-managed operation, with Alvarez having joined the team for last month’s Motul Petit Le Mans and van Uitert winning the race with the team in 2020.

Tower’s previous full-time driver, Charlie Eastwood, will not feature in the team’s lineup next year.
