CORE autosport topped the time charts in opening Prototype Challenge practice for this weekend’s Oak Tree Grand Prix.
Colin Braun reeled off a best lap of 1:41.321 in the 60-minute session. He edged out the No. 25 8Star Motorsports Oreca FLM09 of Sean Rayhall by 0.670 seconds.
Alex Tagliani, making his return to TUDOR United SportsCar Championship competition, was third in his No. 08 RSR Racing entry, ahead of the No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports prototype of Frankie Montecalvo in fourth.
The top-five was completed by the No. 38 Performance Tech car of David Ostella.
Mikhail Goikhberg led the way in Prototype Lites, which runs simultaneously with PC cars this weekend. The JDC Motorsports driver can lock up the L1 title this weekend.
The hour-long session saw three red flags for cars off course.
The second and final PC/Lites practice session of the day gets underway at 3:35 p.m. ET.
