Juncos Racing has completed its driver lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona with the signing of prolific Argentinean touring car racer Agustin Canapino.
The 28-year-old will make his sports car debut in the No. 50 Cadillac DPi-V.R, sharing with with Rene Binder, Kyle Kaiser and Will Owen.
Canapino clinched his seventh Top Race V6 Argentina title in 2017 and also won the Turismo Carretera Argentina series for the second time.
This year, he finished second the Argentine Super TC2000 championship, as well as finishing third in Top Race V6.
“We are very happy to complete our Rolex 24 lineup with a great driver like Agustin Canapino,” said team owner Ricardo Juncos.
“He is a very dedicated and passionate man, competing almost every weekend of the year in a race, and is one of the top drivers in Argentina.
“We will be working very hard as we face this new challenge as a rookie team competing in the highest level of the IMSA series.”
Canapino, who is set to turn his first laps of the Cadillac DPi later this week, described the prospect of racing for overall honors at Daytona as the “biggest challenge” of his career.
“I will give my 100 percent every time I am behind the wheel of the Cadillac DPi and I am very excited to have the chance to race in one of the biggest races in the world,” he said.
