CarBahn with Peregrine Racing’s Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo has broken cover ahead of its IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup debut this weekend at Mid-Ohio.
The California-based team, veterans of Michelin Pilot Challenge with Audi R8 LMS GT4 machinery, will make its first WeatherTech SportsCar Championship outing with drivers Richard Heistand and Jeff Westphal behind the wheel of the GT Daytona class contender.
The duo are slated to complete the eight-round Sprint Cup season, which encompasses all remaining WeatherTech Championship rounds except for the Michelin Endurance Cup races.
Heistand is a former GTD class winner at Mid-Ohio, having teamed with Jack Hawksworth for top class honors in an AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 in 2019, while Westphal returns to top-level WeatherTech Championship competition after recent starts with Scuderia Corsa in recent years.
CarBahn’s Audi is one of 14 cars on the entry list in the GTD category this weekend, including several Sprint Cup-only additions.
