Sportscar365 has learned American open-wheel rising star Conor Daly will make a return to sports car racing in this week’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, joining Performance Tech Motorsports’ Prototype Challenge lineup.
Daly, who raced the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona with RSR Racing, will complete the lineup in the No. 38 Oreca FLM09 with Jerome Mee and James French.
All three will make their Sebring 12-hour race debuts for the Brent O’Neill-led squad.
Daly has recently driven at Sebring though, having completed a one-day test on Sebring’s short course in a Schmidt Peterson Motorsports IndyCar in February.
“It’s amazing to finally be given an opportunity to get back in a race car and give it everything I’ve got,” Daly told Sportscar365.
“With my Dad having won the 12-hour twice it’s really cool to be able to attempt to follow in his foot steps for the first time at this event as well. I can’t thank the team enough for the opportunity and I’m excited to get to work.”
Performance Tech’s Daytona lineup included Mee, French, James Vance and Sean Johnston.
