Philipp Eng was quickest in the second and final IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session prior to qualifying for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, although the session came to a premature end due to an accident by Eng’s BMW M Team RLL teammate Connor De Phillippi.

Eng took his No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8 to a best lap of 1:33.725 to edge out the No. 6 Penske Porsche 963 of Mathieu Jaminet by 0.175 seconds.

Jaminet’s late improvement bumped Renger van der Zande to third quickest in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac V-Series.R, followed by Tom Blomqvist in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac.

The No. 85 JDC-Miller Motorsports Porsche of Phil Hanson completed the top-five overall and in GTP.

LMP2 was led by the No. 74 Riley Oreca 07 Gibson of Felipe Fraga, while Madison Snow set the pace in GTD Pro in his No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3.

Parker Thompson was quickest of the GTD cars, with his No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 just 0.023 seconds slower than Sellers’ pace-setting time.

The session saw two red flags, the first for an accident by Lance Willsey in the No. 33 Sean Creech Motorsport Ligier JS P217 Gibson in Turn 9 roughly halfway through the session.

A heavy shunt by Connor De Philippi in the No. 25 BMW at the exit of Turn 1 brought the session to an early end with less than 2 minutes left on the clock.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 3:30 p.m. EDT with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA Radio.

RESULTS: Practice 2
