Mario Farnbacher has joined Forte Racing to form part of its full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship lineup, the team has confirmed.
The two-time GTD class champion will share the No. 78 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 with the returning Misha Goikhberg, effectively replacing Loris Spinelli.
Farnbacher’s confirmation follows just a day after the announcement that former NASCAR Xfinity Series driver and NBC Sports pit reporter Parker Kligerman will join the team for next month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
A third driver for the Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, meanwhile, remains yet to be named.
Farnbacher joins Forte after driving for Heart of Racing Team’s GTD Pro effort last year and has previously also won races with the likes of Gradient Racing, Meyer Shank Racing and Riley Motorsports.
“It’s my first day in the new job and it was nice to get into this new environment and into the new challenges as well,” Farnbacher said.
“I think the first test day [yesterday] was good. Definitely a lot of things that are new that I need to learn and get my head around.
“I think we made some good progress and are getting to know each other as a new team. Really looking forward to the future and the ROAR and Daytona weekends.
“I think we have a strong package and I’m really looking forward to this season. I’d like to thank the team and Lamborghini for giving me this opportunity.”
