IMSA has released the Balance of Performance tables for the Roar Before the Rolex 24, featuring the initial technical specifications for the GTP and GT classes ahead of the start of the 2024 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Both the Acura ARX-06 and Porsche 963 have received weight increases when compared to the BoP table from Daytona one year ago.
The Acura now weighs in at 1072 kg, instead of last year’s 1030 kg that was the identical weight across all four LMDh manufacturers in the platform’s debut race.
Porsche’s LMDh car, meanwhile, has been confirmed with a minimum weight of 1051 kg, with the BMW M Hybrid V8 getting a minor 1 kg increase from last year and the Cadillac V-Series.R remaining at 1030 kg.
Maximum stint energy has also been adjusted from the 2023 race, with the Acura retaining the 920 MJ figure from last year but the Porsche (917 MJ), BMW (908 MJ) and Cadillac (902 MJ) all being reduced.
While the LMP2 class will see parity between the Oreca 07 Gibson and Ligier JS P217 Gibson, as expected, IMSA has declared the BoP for the 11 different GT3 models competing in either and/or the GTD Pro and GTD categories.
Among the notable additions to the class include the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Ford Mustang GT3, which will weigh in at 1335 kg and 1315 kg, respectively, as well as the updated Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, which has a minimum weight of 1325 kg.
The declaration of the GT BoP comes following an overhaul in IMSA’s process, which saw targeted performance testing in last month’s sanctioned test at Daytona.
