Juncos Racing has begun the rebuild process for its Cadillac DPi entry, with a spare tub having been sourced, following Victor Franzoni’s massive race-ending accident at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The Brazilian escaped serious injury in the accident, which saw the Dallara-built Cadillac DPi-V.R make heavy contact with the Turn 2 tire barriers and end up on its side.

While it took the better part of 20 minutes for Franzoni to be extracted from the car, the Road to Indy graduate did not sustain any broken bones from the crash.

The car, however, is understood to have been a write-off, with the Indianapolis-based crew now in the process of rebuilding the Cadillac DPi around a new tub.

Work on the rebuild began this week, with the intention of the team being on the grid in the next DPi race at Road America in August.

Will Owen’s co-driver for the event has not yet been announced.
