The new Lexus RC F GT3 has made its U.S. debut, but in a television commercial rather than the race track, as part of a new ad campaign from the luxury automaker.
A 30-second TV spot, featuring the RC F GT3, debuted this month, showing the direct lineage between the GT3-based car and its line of F Sport Performance vehicles, including the RC F Sport.
Filming for the commercial was completed in Detroit in May, prior to the car’s targeted race debut at Belle Isle, which was delayed due to a focus on further testing and development.
F Performance Racing, the factory-supported team that will run the Lexus GT Daytona program in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, has yet to outline its race plans for this year.
However, a new version of the RC F GT3, that’s set to take part in the FIA’s Balance of Performance test and receive GT3 homologation, is scheduled to debut in the WeatherTech Championship next year, with the Michigan-based team.
Scott Pruett and Sage Karam have been the two announced drivers for the Lexus GTD effort.
