The No. 5 Mustang Sampling Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R has been pushed behind the wall with an apparent electrical issue in the third hour of the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The Action Express-run car, which is the defending race winner, was returned to the pits by Christian Fittipaldi after the Portuguese driver spun on-track.
This came after the team changed the tail section of the car under the first full-course caution of the race.
Fittipaldi’s co-driver Filipe Albuquerque started from the back of the DPi grid after failing to set a time in qualifying, and moved his way up to seventh in the opening two hours.
However, the issue took hold as Fittipaldi started his first stint in his final Rolex 24 appearance, tumbling the Cadillac DPi down the order.
Dane Cameron continues to run out front in the No. 6 Acura Team Penske ARX-05 DPi, with Rene Rast challenging for the lead in the Team Joest No. 77 Mazda RT24-P DPi started by Oliver Jarvis.
Eric Curran, who ended the second hour in second position, has since dropped behind Rast and Helio Castroneves in the second Acura.
