Ozz Negri continued to lead the way at Watkins Glen, although in wet conditions Saturday morning, in the third and final practice session for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
The No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ligier JS P2 Honda topped the time charts in the rain-soaked session, thanks to Negri’s 1:58.585 lap time.
It was 0.322 seconds quicker than the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP of Christian Fittipaldi, with Joey Hand’s No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley-Ford completing the top-three overall and in the Prototype class.
The No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR of Patrick Pilet topped the GT Le Mans class, with the Frenchman posting a 1:59.677 lap time that held as quickest overall of the session at one point.
Pilet’s time was good enough for fourth overall, ahead of the majority of P class and the entire Prototype Challenge field.
Conor Daly (Performance Tech) and Marc Goossens (Riley Motorsports) set the pace in the PC and GT Daytona classes, respectively.
There were two red flags, the first for the beached No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca of Mike Guasch and the second for a multi-car incident involving the No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW Z4 GT3 and No. 8 Starworks Motorsport Oreca.
Rain is expected for the remainder of the day, with qualifying set to get underway at 3:40 p.m. ET.
