Corvette Racing’s No. 4 Corvette C7.R made an early exit from the first practice session at this weekend’s Roar Before the Rolex 24 test, with a fire in the right rear quarter panel.
The team said that fuel escaped the check valve, got hot, and ignited, causing a brief fire.
The car was returned to the paddock and surveyed by the crew before repairs get underway.
Tommy Milner was in the car when the fire occurred, but was evaluated and released from the infield care center.
Milner is driving with Oliver Gavin and Marcel Fassler, the latter of whom returns to Corvette Racing for selected endurance races after a several-year hiatus.
