Ford Chip Ganassi Racing’s Roar Before the Rolex 24 has gotten off to an eventful start, with rookie Lance Stroll spinning and crashing at Turn 6 in the team’s No. 01 Riley-Ford.

Stroll, the 17-year-old Canadian teenager, overcorrected and crashed the front end of the car at the second hairpin on the course. He was evaluated and released from the infield care center after the incident.

Stroll told Sportscar365 it was his mistake and part of his learning process, as he lost control on his first lap out with cold tires. He co-drives with Alexander Wurz, Andy Priaulx and Brendon Hartley.

The car was brought back to the paddock on a flatbed with front end damage, with the team surveying the car before repairs.

It was the second incident of an eventful first practice session at the Roar Before the Rolex 24, following a fire for the No. 4 Corvette C7.R.
