Park Place Motorsports will take part in next month’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America, in the first sprint race start of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season for Patrick Lindsey and Joerg Bergmeister.
Originally a Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup-only entry, Lindsey has elected to add the Road America event to its schedule, amid its full-season FIA World Endurance Championship duties with Team Project 1.
Lindsey and Bergmeister, who claimed GT Daytona class honors at Lime Rock last year, are unable to contest the GT-only event due to WEC testing commitments.
“Lime Rock wasn’t possible, but everyone loves going to Road America, so it was an easy addition to the schedule,” Lindsey said. “The fact we have ended on the podium at Road America the past two years is just a cherry on top to a fun venue.”
The team is coming off a sixth place class finish in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, rebounding from an incident in practice, triggered by Rene Rast’s Mazda RT24-P DPi.
“Having a strong finish at Watkins Glen after a rough weekend was encouraging,” Lindsey said. “The Glen showed that we’re still an incredibly competent team that is equally competitive.
“We were the strongest Porsche on track which is a good benchmark for the guys. Hopefully, we can be on top of things at Road America and maybe even see the podium again.”
Park Place’s GTD program at Road America will come in addition to its season-long IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama effort for David Kolkmann, who currently sits third overall in the Platinum championship.
