The red flag has been waved on the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen with less than 90 minutes left on the clock.

IMSA declared to stop the race with 1 hour and 22 minutes remaining after running several laps behind the safety car following a sudden downpour that took out a number of cars which were on slick tires.

The No. 11 TDS Racing Oreca 07 Gibson of Hunter McElrea made heavy contact with the Turn 1 barriers, which was followed by a crash by Loris Spinelli in the No. 78 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 in Turn 8.

Both incidents, and heavy rains, brought out the race’s sixth full-course caution with 1 hour and 46 minutes to go.

The red was then displayed just over 20 minutes later, for standing water, after completing only a handful of laps behind the safety car.

The pair of Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura ARX-06s currently run 1-2, led by the No. 40 car of Louis Deletraz who is ahead of Ricky Taylor in the No. 10.

Connor De Phillippi, in the spare No. 25 Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8, runs third, ahead of the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac V-Series.R in fourth.

The pair of Penske Porsche 963s are fifth and sixth, after the then-leading No. 6 Porsche of Mathieu Jaminet got blocked in his pit box by the sister No. 7 entry while dashing into the pits.

LMP2 is led by the No. 88 AF Corse Oreca of Nicklas Nielsen, while the No. 70 Inception Racing McLaren 720S GT3 is out front of GTD, ahead of the GTD Pro class-leading No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3.

IMSA has communicated to teams that it will relay its next update at 4:23 p.m. EDT.
