As anticipated, Alex Riberas will complete the lineup for The Heart of Racing’s Rolex 24 at Daytona lineup, alongside previously announced Porsche factory ace Wolf Henzler and full-season drivers Ian James and Mario Farnbacher.
Alex Job Racing took delivery of its new No. 23 Porsche 911 GT3 R and completed a test last week at Sebring International Raceway, with the quartet of drivers all hailing the new car’s upgrades.
“The new Porsche 911 GT3 R is something very special,” Riberas said. “The grip level is very much improved over the previous 911 GT America and I’m sure it will be very competitive in Daytona.
“Ian, Mario and I have driven together for two years and we know what success feels like as a team. Wolf will be the last piece of the puzzle to create what I consider one of the best line-ups I have ever seen. We are ready to win!”
James, Farnbacher and Riberas endured an engine failure at the 2015 Rolex 24 but bounced back to win the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in dramatic fashion the next race.
“The team felt the pain of a tough Daytona last year that extended all of the way to Petit Le Mans,” Job said. “If we would have posted a top five finish we would have went into Petit as the points leader. That has remained with the team and is the motivator we are using heading into January.”
Henzler, who’s driven for a litany of successful Porsche teams over the last decade-plus, will make his return to Alex Job Racing for the first time since the 2004 Petit Le Mans, when he co-drove with Romain Dumas and Marc Lieb.
“We all know each other which is a big advantage,” said the former driver from Team Falken Tire.
“Alex Job Racing is well known and is always a very competitive team. I don’t see any reason why we should not fight for a class win. I am very happy to be part of this program at the Daytona 24.”
The team’s No. 22 lineup was confirmed last week, featuring endurance extras Gunnar Jeannette, Shane van Gisbergen and David MacNeil alongside Leh Keen and Cooper MacNeil.
While this confirms the lineup for the Rolex 24, it remains to be seen what the No. 23 team will do for the remainder of the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup rounds.
