Rolex 24 Resumes After Six-Plus Hour Safety Car Period

The Rolex 24 at Daytona resumed green flag action following more than six hours behind the safety car due to fog.

Laurin Heinrich in the No. 7 Penske Porsche 963 led the field to the restart with six hours and 21 minutes to go following a six-hour and 33-minute full course caution period for low visibility.

Heinrich led the No. 25 Team WRT BMW M Hybrid V8 of Kevin Magnussen, with the No. 6 Penske Porsche of Matt Campbell in third.

A number of cars were served varying degrees of penalties immediately following the green, including the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R of Fred Vesti, who was forced to serve a stop-and-hold plus 60-second penalty for running the red light at pit-exit.

Alex Quinn was out front in the LMP2 ranks in the No. 04 CrowdStrike by APR Oreca 07 Gibson following the resumption of racing, while Tommy Milner (No. 3 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R) and Lilou Wadoux (No. 21 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo), meanwhile, paced the production-based categories with just over six hours to go.
