Starworks Motorsport will pay tribute to the legendary Audi 90 quattro GTO with special colors on its Audi R8 LMS Evo in next weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The Florida-based squad, which returns to full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition after a two-year hiatus, is the latest team to reveal a historic livery in honor of IMSA’s 50th anniversary.
Made famous in rallying, the German manufacturer took part in the 1989 IMSA GTO season with the turbocharged all-wheel drive beast, which saw Hans-Joachim Stuck claim seven victories.
Ryan Dalziel, Parker Chase, Ezequiel Perez Companc and Audi factory driver Christopher Haase will pilot the No. 8 Audi in the twice-around-the-clock endurance classic, in the team’s GT Daytona class debut.
