Bent Viscaal will form part of Proton Competition’s GTP lineup for the third consecutive race as he join the German squad for this weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.

The Dutchman will share the No. 5 Porsche 963 with Gianmaria Bruni, continuing a partnership that covered the previous two IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship rounds at Laguna Seca and Detroit.

Viscaal is fresh off competing with Proton’s Iron Lynx-backed LMP2 effort in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he raced alongside Jonas Ried and Maceo Capietto.

“Le Mans last week, now Watkins Glen: I’m very much looking forward to drive the Porsche 963 on this legendary track,” Viscaal said.

“We made good progress in the last few races and I’m very excited to go there and maximise our potential.

“Hopefully we’ll have a little more lucky there than in Detroit. We’ll do our best. For sure it will be an exciting weekend.

“One of the biggest challenges at Watkins Glen is finding the perfect car set-up for the fast and highly demanding track in a short space of time.

“If we manage to do that, I fancy our chances of competing at the front of the pack.”

Only Bruni was previously confirmed for the six-hour Michelin Endurance Cup round at Watkins Glen when the entry list was revealed last week.

With only Viscaal joining the No. 5 car alongside Bruni, it makes JDC-Miller Motorsports the only team to be running a three-man driver crew in the GTP class.
