Two-time NTT IndyCar Series champion and Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power is set to test in 75 Express’ Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo at this weekend’s IMSA-sanctioned test at Daytona International Speedway, with an eye to make a belated debut in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The Australian, who made his first GT3 outing in last month’s Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS with the Kenny Habul-owned team, will turn laps in the team’s GTD Pro class contender this weekend.

He’ll be joined by Bronze-rated Habul and Mercedes-AMG factory driver Mikael Grenier for the test.

Power was due to make his modern-era sports car racing debut in the 2023 edition of the Rolex 24 but withdrew at the last minute due to a family medical emergency.

The 44-year-old told Sportscar365 last month that he’d love to contest the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener, admitting his switch from Team Penske to Andretti Global in IndyCar has opened up additional racing opportunities.

At least one other active IndyCar driver, in addition to Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin at Porsche Penske Motorsport, is understood to be testing this weekend, also in the GTD Pro ranks.

A finalized entry list for the three-day test is expected to be released shortly.
