The 11th season of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America kicks off this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with 33 cars entered for the start of the popular single-make series.
Retaining its four-class structure for this year, entries are again divided between the Pro, Pro-Am, Am and LB Cup ranks, featuring a number of new drivers and two new teams to the Super Trofeo paddock.
The series also welcomes Hankook as its new exclusive tire partner, which encompasses all three Super Trofeo series worldwide.
Among the newcomers in North America this year include open-wheel-turned sports car aces Sebastian Saavedra and Ryan Norman driving for ANSA Motorsports and Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport, respectively, in the Pro class.
Saavedra will team up with Nico Jamin in the No. 30 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, with Norman driving solo in his No. 84 WTR Andretti entry.
They will face competition from defending Pro class champions Kyle Marcelli and Danny Formal, who return to the No. 1 WTR Andretti Lamborghini, as well as Giano Taurino, who switches to TR3 Racing but remains in the Pro class.
Both the Pro-Am and LB Cup classes feature a series-high ten entries, highlighted by returning and/or expanded efforts from Flying Lizard Motorsports, NTE Sport, Precision Performance Motorsports, Forte Racing by USRT, and Forty7 Motorsports.
The Am class, meanwhile, features nine car for Laguna.
Of note, former IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge champion Nate Stacy will mount a title-seeking campaign with WTR Andretti in Pro-Am, while Alexandre Premat is part of Forte’s four-car lineup.
Veteran junior open-wheel outfit World Speed will make its Super Trofeo debut with a two-car effort featuring Sean Prewett and Carter Williams in Pro-Am and Dan Decker in LB Cup.
Valkyrie Velocity, formerly known as Hardpoint, is also set for its maiden outing in the series, fielding three Lamborghinis across the Am and LB Cup classes.
Track action at Laguna Seca kicks off on Friday with a pair of practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning and the first of two 50-minute races on Saturday afternoon. Race 2, meanwhile, is scheduled for Sunday morning prior to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round.
Both races will be streamed live on Peacock and IMSA.tv featuring commentary from IMSA Radio.
