Elias De La Torre set the pace in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America practice on Thursday at Road America, putting TR3 Racing atop the time sheets at the four-mile Wisconsin circuit.
De La Torre, in the No. 29 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, reeled off a chart-topping 2:05.782 lap time during the day’s second session, besting co-driver Will Bamber’s 2:06.376 that led the way in the first 45-minute practice.
Danny Formal put the No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini second on the combined time sheets, ahead of the No. 22 World Speed entry of Scott Huffaker, with all top three in the Pro class.
Pro-Am was led by the No. 69 WTR Lamborghini of Trent Hindman, while Glen McGee topped Am in his No. 10 WTR entry.
Nick Groat was quickest in LB Cup in the No. 57 One Motorsports Lamborghini.
There were three red flags, all occurring during Practice 2, with the No. 30 ANSA Motorsports Lamborghini of Nicky Hays going off course in Turn 9 with 28 minutes to go in second practice.
While track action quickly resumed, a second stoppage came moments later for the No. 66 Forty7 Motorsports Lamborghini of Christopher Tasca, who spun into the Turn 1 gravel trap.
Both Tasca and Hays’ entries will lose their fastest qualifying laps as a penalty for bringing out red flags in practice.
The final session came to an early end with seconds left on the clock when Luke Berkeley made impact with the Turn 11 barriers in his No. 28 Alliance Racing entry, but later continued to the pits.
Among the other notable incidents on Thursday included the No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports entry of Sean McAuliffe stopping on track in Turn 6 in the first session, followed by a puncture for the No. 10 WTR entry of Graham Doyle, who was reported slow in Turn 11.
The second session saw several other cars go off course but continue without an intervention.
Qualifying is on tap for Friday at 5:05 p.m. CST, ahead of race action this weekend.
