Danny Formal and Jonathan Cecotto split the overall pole positions for the pair or Pro/Pro-Am races at the Lamborghini World Finals at Misano.

Formal, who shares the No. 101 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 with Hampus Ericsson, topped the first of two qualifying sessions with a best lap of 1:33.455.

That put him 0.235 seconds ahead of the No. 6 Vincenzo Sospiri Racing Lamborghini car driven by Paul Levet, with the No. 36 Oregon Team machine third in the hands of Enzo Geraci.

TR3 Racing’s Will Bamber was the second-quickest North American competitor in fourth overall, with Silas Rytter completing the overall top five at the wheel of the No. 99 Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini.

Luca Segu, meanwhile, took Pro-Am pole position for Race 1, setting a time of 1:34.130 at the wheel of the No. 72 HC by DL Racing car that was good enough for tenth overall.

The opening Pro/Pro-Am session came to a premature end when Calle Bergman went off at Turn 13 with roughly a minute to go. The Swedish driver’s No. 44 Leipert Motorsport machine is understood to have suffered rear end damage in the incident.

In the second session, Cecotto put in a 1:33.618 lap that was slightly slower than Formal’s earlier effort, but still fast enough to put the No. 211 BC Racing Lamborghini on pole overall as well as in the Pro category.

The remainder of the overall top five consisted entirely of Pro-Am runners, with Frederik Schandorff second aboard the No. 3 ASR car he shares with Andrzej Lewandowski.

Brendon Leitch took third in the No. 289 Leipert Motorsport machine, ahead of Art-Line’s Egor Orudzhev and the No. 13 CMR Lamborghini piloted by Georgi Dimitrov.

This session too was interrupted by a red flag, this time with seven minutes remaining when Orudzhev stopped at Turn 9.

In Am/LB Cup qualifying, European contenders largely dominated proceedings, locking out the overall top three in both sessions.

Stephane Tribaudini was quickest overall and stormed to pole in the Am category, steering his No. 66 Vincenzo Sospiri Racing Lamborghini to a best time of 1:35.018.

Pietro Perolini was 0.237 seconds back in the No. 61 Oregon Team entry, followed by ASR’s Paolo Biglieri and LB Cup polesitter Donovan Privitelio in fourth overall.

Stephane Lemeret captured pole in Am for the second race with a time of 1:34.983 at the wheel of the No. 27 CMR Lamborghini, beating Biglieri’s No. 32 ASR car by a margin of 0.611 seconds.

Massimo Ciglia took third in the No. 61 Oregon Team Lamborghini, joined on the second row by the No. 130 ANSA Motorsport car of Antoine Comeau.

Comeau will be competing solo in the Am category for the World Finals, with Nico Jamin not taking part.

The overall top five was rounded out by Karim Ojjeh, who captured LB Cup pole at the wheel of his No. 7 Rexal Villorba Corse car.

The first of four World Finals races, the opening AM/LB Cup contest, is scheduled to start at 1:45 p.m. CET (7:45 a.m. ET).
