Brandon Gdovic will start from the pole in both of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America races this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Gdovic, who topped Friday’s combined practice session times, reeled off a 1:25.128 lap time in his No. 46 PPM Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo to go quickest in Q1.
His time of 1:25.721 in Q2, however, was not enough for a pole sweep, which saw Jimenez in the No. 13 ANSA Motorsports Lamborghini take the top qualifying spot for Race 2.
It marked the Brazilian’s first overall pole in series competition.
Danny Formal swept Pro-Am class honors in both qualifying sessions and will start third and fourth overall on the grids, respectively.
Stevan McAleer split the two in Q1, with his No. 1 Prestige Performnace/Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini set to start third in this afternoon’s race.
Pro class championship leader Madison Snow qualified fifth for Race 1 and fourth for Race 2, meanwhile.
Am class pole honors for both races has gone to Victor Gomez in the No. 29 Change Racing Lamborghini while John Hennessy was back to his winning ways by scoring a sweep of poles for LB Cup.
Race 1 of the weekend gets underway at 1:40 p.m. PDT, while Race 2 is set for Sunday at 10:25 a.m. Both will be streamed live on IMSA.com/TVLive.
