Trent Hindman and Jackson Lee will make a cameo appearance in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America this weekend at Road America with Wayne Taylor Racing, with the Pro-Am class duo taking seats in the No. 69 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 typically occupied by Anthony McIntosh and Brendon Leitch.
McIntosh, who has stood down from racing in the single-make series, as well as SRO America competition, in order to focus on his new global endurance racing duties, provided the Indianapolis-based team to field the car with a new pairing of drivers.
Hindman, the 2017 Super Trofeo North America overall and world Pro-Am champion, will make his return to the series on the heels of helping WTR claim its first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship victory with Lamborghini machinery at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park earlier this month.
“It’s a welcome and quite unexpected opportunity to jump back aboard a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo,” said Hindman.”I believe it’s been seven years since I last raced one of these cars, but I certainly have not forgotten how fun they are to drive and how close the racing can be.
“The opportunity to share a car with someone who you haven’t driven with before and who’s as quick and dedicated to their craft as Jackson is always an exciting prospect as well.
“I look forward to seeing what we can learn from each other and the results I know we, and WTR, are capable of achieving.”
Lee, meanwhile, most recently took part in the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca round at the wheel of a Forty7 Motorsports-entered Super Trofeo entry.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Wayne Taylor Racing and Trent Hindman for the Road America rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo season,” he said.
“We’ve got a strong lineup, and I’m confident we’re set up for success.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get to work! This is a big step forward for me, and I’m looking forward to learning from one of the top teams in the paddock.
“Sharing the car with a driver like Trent, who’s had success at every level, is an incredible chance to grow and push myself. It’s also very cool to share a car with another former Team USA Scholarship winner.”
