Lamborghini and IMSA have extended their partnership agreement that will continue to see Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America under IMSA sanctioning through at least the 2026 season.
The five-year extension, announced on Wednesday, comes ahead of the highly anticipated debut of the new Lamborghini Super Trofeo Evo2 car in the single-make series, which kicks off at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in April.
The partnership began with the launch of Super Trofeo North America in 2013.
“We are really proud about this partnership extension,” said Head of Lamborghini Motorsport Giorgio Sanna.
“IMSA is a prestigious partner for us, especially in a strategic market like North America.
“I’m really looking forward to see our brand new Huracan Super Trofeo Evo2 racing in such iconic tracks as Laguna Seca, racing together with IMSA for the 10th following season.”
IMSA President John Doonan added: “Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America has thrilled fans with its fast, exotic cars and tight competition for nearly a decade.
“As we prepare for this special season, it’s good to know that the foundation has been laid for the series to continue growing and thriving for years to come.
“With a new car, new teams and a larger number of entries expected, the future bodes well for Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America to continue as a vibrant part of the IMSA family.”
The 2022 Super Trofeo North America season is expected to feature a capacity grid, with more than 40 Evo2 models sold.
