Patrick Liddy and Kiko Porto have claimed pole positions for the pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America rounds at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend.

Patrick Liddy propelled his solo-driven No. 72 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 to top of the time sheets in the first of two 15-minute qualifying sessions with a best lap of 1:22.909.

His time edged out reigning series champion Danny Formal by just 0.182 seconds. Q1 proved to be a battle between Liddy and Formal who traded fastest laps throughout the session.

Kiko Porto proved third fastest overall for ANSA Motorsports, less than two-tenths off Liddy’s pace.

Andy Lee led a Flying Lizard Motorsports 1-2 in Pro-Am aboard his No. 14 ‘Sparklefarts’ Lamborghini, ahead stablemate Marc Miller’s No. 41 machine.

Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti’s Glenn McGee set the pace in the Am class, while Michael Staab will start Race 1 from the LB Cup pole in the No. 48 Precision Performance Motorsports entry.

A red flag was brought out near the end of Q1 for a stricken Ray Shahi, who went off course at Turn 4 in his No. 65 Forte Lamborghini.

Shahi’s car was quickly retrieved, allowing drivers one final flying lap before the end of the session.

Q2 saw Porto set the fastest time across both sessions in his No. 4 ANSA machine placing him on the Race 2 pole, three-tenths up on Liddy behind.

Jake Walker completed the top-three for Forty7 Motorsports, despite briefly leading the session after the first flying laps.

Flying Lizard swept Pro-Am qualifying with Jeroen Bleekemolen besting Nikko Reger’s TPC Racing machine in Q2.

ANSA’s strong qualifying continued in Am, with Kevin Madsen comfortably leading his class and qualifying an impressive seventh overall.

Meanwhile, Nick Groat put the No. 57 One Motorsports Lamborghini on the LB Cup pole.

Q2 was also impacted by a late red flag, with both Anthony Bullock and Alexandre Lima finding themselves off track at turn 3, bringing out the checkered flag early.

Both sessions saw multiple minor off-track excursions as drivers pushed their Lamborghini machinery on the newer Laguna Seca pavement.

Race 1 goes green at 5:40 p.m. PDT (8:40 p.m. EDT), with Race 2 scheduled for Sunday morning at 9:40 a.m. PDT (12:40 p.m. EDT). Both races will have live coverage on Peacock and IMSA.tv
