Giano Taurino laid down the quickest time of the day for Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America competitors at Watkins Glen International, ahead of qualifying for this weekend’s third and fourth rounds of the season.
The TR3 Racing driver took his No. 88 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 to a quick lap of 1:47.283 in the second session to edge out the No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport entry of Danny Formal by 0.740 seconds.
Alexandre Premat ended the day third quickest overall and fastest of the Pro-Am class entries in his No. 70 Forte Racing powered by US RaceTronics entry, with Joel Miller making a late improvement to fourth overall and second in class.
WTR Andretti’s Ryan Norman completed the top-five in his Pro class Lamborghini.
Alexandre Lima set the quickest time in the Am class, from the first session, in the No. 07 TR3 Racing Lamborghini, while Jon Hirshberg led the way in LB Cup in his No. 86 Forte by USRT entry.
The opening session saw a single red flag, for the No. 66 Forty7 Motorsports entry of AJ Muss, made contact with the Turn 9 barriers, while the afternoon session ran without major incident.
Qualifying is set to get underway Friday at 9:20 a.m. EDT followed by the first race of the weekend at 2:25 p.m., which will be streamed live on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
