After a successful debut in the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona racing a Porsche 911 GT3 R, Team TGM will enter team owner and driver Ted Giovanis in Porsche Carrera Cup North America.
Giovanis will contest the majority of the 2021 scheduled events in the U.S., missing the two currently announced Canadian races due to schedule conflicts.
He will compete in the Pro-Am 991 class, reserved for previous-gen Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars.
“This is an opportunity for me to continue to compete in a Porsche in IMSA competition which I also race in International GT events,” said Giovanis.
“In addition, it gives me extended track time at Sebring before we race in the Michelin Pilot Challenge race.
“While Sebring is a great track, it’s also very physically challenging, and the better I know the terrain of the circuit, the better to help me turn quicker times.
“The Porsche is a car that I enjoy driving, and I like the idea of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America single-make racing. It’s a unique challenge for drivers to navigate heavy race traffic in similar cars and handle the bumps that Sebring is famous for.
“I look forward to racing in the Carrera Cup and bringing more hands-on experience which can benefit the entire team.”
