Pecom Racing will not take part in next year’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, according to AF Corse team principal Amato Ferrari.

The AF Corse-run squad, owned by WRC-turned sports car racer Luis Perez Companc, had been evaluating a switch to the TUDOR Championship with its P2-class Oreca 03 Nissan.

However, a full-season program has been ruled out for 2014, allegedly due to the yet-to-be-finalized set of Prototype regulations and the disparity between the Daytona Prototypes and P2 cars in pre-season testing at Sebring and Daytona.

“We are in contact to see what we can do together, but at the moment, no USA,” Ferrari told Sportscar365. “We postponed the meeting until after the [WEC] championship, so I don’t know now.”

AF Corse could still have a presence in the U.S., though, as the team has submitted two full-season entry requests for the GT Daytona category.

Whether their pair of Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 will be granted entries, in a class that has seen more than 25 full-season requests, remains to be seen.

“We sent the entries but at the moment they haven’t confirmed, Ferrari said. “We sent the cars. They are on their way to Daytona.

“We have a budget for a big part of the season. It’s not a completely full budget yet but we are close to finalizing. We will see if we are in or not.”

On the WEC front, Ferrari anticipates a similar program for 2014 but has yet to be officially confirmed.

He’s in negotiations with another partner, believed to be G-Drive, to replace Pecom in LMP2, while expecting to return with two Ferraris in both GTE-Pro and GTE-Am.
