Triple Eight Race Engineering has parted ways with Mercedes-AMG, with Tigani Motorsport taking over as the brand’s service provider for the Australia-New Zealand region.
The Brisbane-based squad has had a long affiliation with the Stuttgart manufacturer. It regularly ran Mercedes-AMG machinery in the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour in recent years.
Most notably, it operated the SunEnergy1 Racing entry driven to victory by Kenny Habul, Jules Gounon, Martin Konrad and Luca Stolz in 2022, also finishing third in the same race with a second car piloted by Prince Jefri Ibrahim, Broc Feeney and Shane van Gisbergen.
Sportscar365 understands that Triple Eight’s contract with Mercedes-AMG, which saw the team operate as the designated supplier of spare parts and technical support for the Australia and New Zealand region, was due to expire at the end of this year.
A new partnership with Ford Racing for 2026 was already announced earlier this year, with Triple Eight also linked to a two-car Ford Mustang GT3 entry in the Bathurst 12 Hour that could also involve Haupt Racing Team.
A Mercedes-AMG spokesperson confirmed that Tigani Motorsport, which is active in GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, took on the role of service provider last month.
The Nathan Tigani-led squad has raced Mercedes-AMG machinery since 2023 and will contest next week’s Gulf 12 Hours with a lineup that includes junior driver Jayden Ojeda as well as Brendon Leitch.
“Tigani Motorsport is an established GT racing team and has been a regular Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team since 2023,” said Christoph Sagemueller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport.
“Together with Affalterbach Racing GmbH, we are pleased to have found in Nathan Tigani and his team a reliable partner who has been responsible for the Aftersales Program in Australia and New Zealand since November, thereby ensuring the continued availability of spare parts and technical support on the continent and taking the business to the next level – an aspect that is of central importance to us given the growing number of Mercedes-AMG racing cars in these markets.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Triple Eight Race Engineering for the cooperation over the past years and wish the team every success for the future.”
