Indian film star Ajith Kumar has teamed up with Team Virage for his first season in prototype racing in the upcoming Asian Le Mans Series season.
Kumar will share Team Virage’s No. 1 Ligier JS P325-Toyota LMP3 with compatriot and ex-Formula 1 racer Narain Karthikeyan and an unnamed third driver for the six-round series that kicks off in December at Sepang in Malaysia.
It marks the latest step on the 54-year-old’s racing journey, which he resumed this year after a 15-year sabbatical with a full season in the Michelin 24H Series with his Ajith Kumar Racing team at the wheel of a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup.
“I’m looking forward to an exciting season in the Asian Le Mans Series, and consider it an honor and a privilege to be a part of this series,” said Kumar. “I’m looking forward to being part of this prestigious series all that the LMP3 has to offer.”
Team Virage CEO Julien Gerbi added: “It’s very exciting to have Ajith and Narain in the car. We will have a third driver, who is yet to be decided.
“It’s definitely something that we are looking forward to a lot. First of all, to compete in the Asian Le Mans under the name of Team Virage for the first time, to go with two cars and to go with this impressive lineup.
“We expect a lot of Indian fans to follow us this season but not only in India. He’s very famous worldwide, even my barber in a small village in Spain actually knows him. We are looking forward seeing a lot of his fans in Sepang this December.”
Team Virage is entering Asian Le Mans Series for the first time with a two-car entry, with Swiss drivers Yohann Segala and Danny Buntschu slated to share the No. 8 Ligier.
The 2025-26 Asian Le Mans Series begins with a double-header on Dec. 12-14 at Sepang and continues with back-to-back weekends at the Dubai Autodrome and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in late January and early February.
