OAK Racing Team Asia presented its 2014 program Monday in Shanghai, which will see the first-ever all-Chinese driver lineup contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Reigning Asian Le Mans Series champion David Cheng will join Ho-Pin Tung and a soon-to-be-announced third driver at the wheel of the team’s new Honda-powered Ligier JS P2.
The effort will carry the backing of TOTAL, Michelin and Orsun in the twice-around-the-clock endurance classic, with the partners expected to continue their relationship through the five-round Asian LMS.
In addition to Cheng and Tung, Patrice Devemy, CEO of TOTAL Lubricants China, OAK Racing Team Asia principal Remy Brouard and Asian LMS managing director Mark Thomas were on hand for the program’s formal launch.
Following Le Mans, the team will switch to a Morgan-Judd for the Asian LMS, which kicks off at Korea’s Inje Speedium on July 20.
