Brundle Returns to United Autosports for LMP2 Effort

Alex Brundle will make his return to United Autosports, having been confirmed in the team’s second Ligier JS P217 Gibson in the European Le Mans Series.

Brundle will join Ryan Cullen and a third yet-to-be-announced driver in the LMP2 entry, marking his first full season with the Anglo-American squad since winning the ELMS LMP3 championship in 2016.

The Ginetta LMP1 refugee is also slated to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside Cullen, pending entry confirmation from the Automobile Club De l’Ouest.

“I’m very excited and motivated to be racing with United Autosports in LMP2 for 2019, re-joining the team who took me to the championship title in LMP3,” Brundle said.

“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of a Ligier once more, representing a world-class outfit and my longstanding sponsors and friends at Richard Mille.”

Cullen, who claimed LMP2 class honors in last month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, makes his United debut after a season with APR Rebellion.

The Porsche Supercup and GP3 graduate has already completed four days of testing with the team at Barcelona.

“It’s a team with great structure and experience and the perfect place for me to grow and be competitive in ELMS,” Cullen said. “So far everybody has been superb and very welcoming and I’m looking forward to having Alex as a teammate.”

Brundle and Cullen join the previously announced full-season pairing of Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson in the team’s two-car LMP2 lineup.
