Paul di Resta has been confirmed in United Autosports’ lineup for the European Le Mans Series, with the Peugeot Sport FIA World Endurance Championship driver set to take part in three different sports car racing series this year.
Di Resta will join Fabio Scherer and to-be-announced Silver-rated driver in United’s No. 23 Oreca 07 Gibson in the six-round ELMS season.
The Scot replaces Filipe Albuquerque in United’s lineup, with Albuquerque now having been ruled out of the seat due to his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship commitments with Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti and Acura.
“Really happy to be asked to come back to the European Le Mans Series,” said di Resta. “There will be a lot of work to do, but I’m really looking forward to driving the LMP2 – especially with the increase in power.”
Di Resta’s ELMS commitments will run in parallel to his WeatherTech Championship program, also with United, which kicks off with next weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The Anglo-American team will run a total of three LMP2 entries in the ELMS this year.
“This will be our ninth consecutive year in the European Le Mans Series,” said United Autosports CEO Richard Dean.
“The competition keeps growing, it’s a really exciting series to be part of and, with Paul and Fabio announced for the No. 23 Oreca 07, we have two strong drivers who are dedicated, fast and determined to bring the championship home.”
