2022 FIA Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich has joined Vector Sport’s LMP2 lineup for the upcoming European Le Mans Series season.
The 23-year-old Brazilian, who also serves as a test and reserve driver for the Aston Martin Formula 1 team, joins the previously announced Ryan Cullen and Stephane Richelmi in the team’s Oreca 07 Gibson.
He replaces the originally nominated Gabriel Aubry in the team’s Oreca 07 Gibson.
“It’s great to welcome Felipe to the team,” said team principal Gary Holland. “His obvious enthusiasm for being in a racing car as well as his undoubted speed and work ethic makes him a natural choice for Vector Sport.
“We have had some incredible names race in Vector Sport colors and we will continue to bring the very best available to our programs.”
The open-wheel standout will be making his sports car racing debut after spending last year on the sidelines.
“I am really happy and motivated to have signed with Vector Sport to drive for them on the European Le Mans Series,” Drugovich said. “I know the team’s history and quality and am very excited to get on track with them.
“I have met the team and was impressed with what I saw. I am sure that together with them, my fellow drivers Ryan Cullen and Stephane Richelmi, we can write a successful chapter with the No. 10 Oreca.
“Its good to know that I will be back in action in real races, bringing together my experience in racing and my fondness for endurance racing.
“My job as substitute and reserve driver with Aston Martin F1 continues with its full schedule, I will be just be keeping busy on my weekends which up until now have been free.”
