Genesis Magma Racing driver Mathys Jaubert will remain in the European Le Mans Series this year but switch to the LMGT3 ranks as part of the lineup for Kessel Racing’s No. 57 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.
The Frenchman’s impressive performances with IDEC Sport in the ELMS last year, when he finished third in the standings alongside Dani Juncadella and Jamie Chadwick, resulted in him being promoted to Genesis’ Hypercar lineup for its maiden campaign in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Those results when part of the Genesis Trajectory Program also earned him Sportscar365’s rookie of the year award.
But amid uncertainty about whether the manufacturer will adopt two- or three-driver lineups in the shorter WEC rounds this season, Jaubert said at the end of last year that he was targeting an additional GT program.
The 21-year-old previously described having an extra campaign as a chance “to learn many things from a GT [that] can help me a lot” with his Hypercar outings.
This GT target has now been achieved following confirmation Jaubert will partner Kessel regulars Ferrari factory driver Daniel Serra and Takeshi Kimura at the wheel of one of its 296 GT3 Evos.
The full lineup of the sister No. 74 Kessel machine had already been announced with Andrew Gilbert and Fran Rueda continuing and now being joined by Romain Leroux.
Jaubert does have plenty of previous GT racing experience, although this has predominantly been in various one-make Porsche categories.
