Lapierre Quickest in Wet FP2 at Estoril

Nicolas Lapierre set the fastest time in Free Practice 2 on Saturday in Estoril, with the DragonSpeed driver posting a 1:35.671 near the end of the wet session.

Giedo van der Garde put G-Drive Racing into second, the No. 38 Gibson 015S Nissan 0.670 seconds slower than Lapierre’s Oreca 05 Nissan.

Greaves Motorsport, Krohn Racing and Panis Barthez Competition completed the top five, while championship leaders Thiriet by TDS Racing were sixth in class, but in fact slower than the No. 3 United Autosports car.

The LMP3-leading No. 3 Ligier JS P3 Nissan was driven by Wayne Boyd, who set a 1:40.753 to take the top spot in class, over two seconds clear of the championship-winning sister car in second.

Meanwhile, Marco Cioci led the way in GTE for AF Corse, the Italian setting a 1:45.975 in his No. 51 Ferrari F458 Italia. Darren Turner was just three-tenths slower in the Aston Martin Racing entry.

Qualifying is set for 12:45 p.m. local time ahead of Sunday’s European Le Mans Series finale.
