BMW has confirmed its driver lineups for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Phillip Eng and Jesse Krohn joining its full-season FIA World Endurance Championship roster in the pair of Team MTEK BMW M8 GTE cars.
DTM ace Eng will join Martin Tomczyk and Nicky Catsburg in the No. 81 BMW, with Krohn, who drives for BMW Team RLL in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, set for his Le Mans debut alongside Antonio Felix da Costa in the No. 82 car.
The former BMW Motorsport Junior replaces Alexander Sims in the lineup from last year’s race.
“From a sporting perspective, we are excellently positioned with the drivers we have in the cockpits of the two BMW M8 GTE,” said BMW Motorsport director Jens Marquardt.
“The four regular drivers – Martin, Nick, António and Augusto – have had podium finishes in the WEC.
“They are joined by Philipp and Jesse – another two drivers who also have plenty of experience in the BMW M8 GTE and know what it takes to be successful in GT racing.
“We are looking forward to Le Mans and are now entering the final phase of preparations.”
BMW has yet to commit to a return for the 2019-20 WEC season, with the German manufacturer having been re-evaluating its participation in the WEC for some months.
