Five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans starter Sarah Bovy has been named as the grand marshal for this year’s 94th edition of the race, while JOTA co-founder David Clark and pioneering driver Frederic Sausset will also be honored at the event.

Bovy has established herself as one of the most successful female GT drivers in recent years, enjoying class success in the FIA World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series with the Iron Dames squad.

While the team is taking a sabbatical from racing, Bovy will still be present at Le Mans this year and will act as grand marshal.

Event organizer the Automobile Club de l’Ouest described her “love of racing and communicative energy” as being “ideal” for the role.

Clark, meanwhile, has been awarded the Spirit of Le Mans title for his long history in endurance racing.

Prior to helping establish JOTA, he was director of McLaren Cars including during the time of the British manufacturer’s outright Le Mans success in 1995.

Quadruple amputee Sausset will also be a guest of honor to mark ten years since his inspirational Le Mans participation at the wheel of a modified Morgan LMP2 machine entered through the Garage 56 innovative car program.

“The 24 Hours of Le Mans is more than a race,” said ACO President Pierre Fillon. “It’s a story of people, passion, purpose and pushing limits.

“Thanks to Sarah Bovy, David Clark and Frédéric Sausset, the 94th running of the race trains the spotlight on three remarkable people, who, each in their own way, illustrate the spirit of Le Mans.

“They demonstrate the rich diversity of our discipline, reminding us that endurance racing is above all about people and that our vitality underpins our sport.”
