Mike Conway will rejoin Toyota Gazoo Racing at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo having recovered from his cycling injury, the team has confirmed.

The British driver returns to the cockpit of the No. 7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid for the six-hour race at Interlagos, teaming up with Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries.

Conway was sidelined from the 24 Hours of Le Mans after he sustained rib and collarbone injuries in an accident while cycling in the days leading up to the test day for the French endurance classic.

He was replaced by Jose Maria Lopez, with the Argentinean now returning to the cockpit of the No. 87 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus RC F GT3 in Brazil.

“It’s great to be back and I can’t wait to be behind the wheel again,” Conway said.

“Watching Le Mans from a distance was tough for me. I went through all the ups and downs with Kamui, Nyck and Jose but it was incredibly frustrating that I could not be part of it.

“I always knew we were in safe hands with Jose, and he did a great job.

“Now I am just looking forward to competing again, fighting at the front and hopefully helping Kamui, Nyck and the team win the World Championship.”

The No. 7 Toyota finished second at Le Mans, which has moved Kobayashi and De Vries to third place in the Hypercar standings with four races remaining.

Porsche Penske Motorsport drivers Andre Lotterer, Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor lead the championship with 99 points, with Ferrari trio Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen second after their Le Mans victory.
